PROFESSOR IORYISA VERINUMBE was born on 16th December. 1953: at Mbajor (Mbatyough). Vandeikya. Benue State. Nigeria. He is married with children. Below are lists of his educational background:

first distinguished Forester from the State. A pioneer Agroforestry, having obtained the .first MSc ( 1979) and PhD qualifications ( 1981) on the subject. University of Ibadan Alumni Award (26/11 /1999) for distinguished and meritorious contribution to human development. The first Benue person to obtain a Doctor of Philosophy degree from the premier University: also the first Professor of Forestry in Northern Nigeria and one of the most distinguished Forestry Scientists in the Savannah Region.
